Characterization is better in the manga too imo. Root A is anime original, so the second half of Tokyo Ghoul manga wasn't even adapted. And Tokyo Ghoul :re was far too rushed. It still had the time skip and may have been somewhat confusing for some manga readers too in the beginning and the end of the series is not considered the best either.
